physiology, one which was published in Medicine and Science on Sports
and Exercise in 1996. Her research project on nutrition addressed
its effect on the etiology and treatment of menstrual irregularities
(dysmenorrhea), dysfunctional uterine bleeding, and premenstrual
syndromes. She is currently working on her doctoral studies in Nutritional
Sciences. Her doctoral research focuses on the effects of low glycemic
diets and exercise in viscerally obese post-menopausal women.
Zsuzsanna has been working as an exercise physiologist and nutritionist
for seven years, and practicing clinical nutrition and functional
medicine since 2000.
Focusing on uncovering the root cause of disease, her nutritional
practice employs functional laboratory assessments to analyze the
hormonal, immune, digestive, and metabolic systems. After identifying
the underlying conditions that cause imbalances, she designs individual
nutritional and lifestyle programs to reduce the total load on the
body and strengthen the immune system. By doing so, healthy function
can be restored to all organ systems. Restoring healthy function
can reduce further degenerative effects and provide a slower and
healthier aging process. Through the use of functional laboratory
assessments, subclinical or unseen health conditions can be revealed
before they develop in to serious health problems. Early detection,
together with the necessary lifestyle and nutritional changes, allows
you to take the essential, first steps in the life journey of anti-aging.
Zsuzsanna's personal interests revolve around a variety of physical
activities such as running, biking and strength training, as well
as physical and cognitive relaxation practices including yoga and
meditation, She enjoys calligraphy, reading, studying eastern philosophies,
languages, traveling, studying different cultures, cooking, and
creating unique, natural health recipes.

Tracy
Tranchitella, N.D. is a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine who specializes
in providing nutritional and homeopathic consultations, lifestyle
counseling, botanical medicine, and women's health assessments.
She graduated in 1998 from the Southwest College of Naturopathic
Medicine (SCNM) in Tempe, Arizona. After completing her naturopathic
medical training, she relocated to San Diego, CA. to begin her private
practice.
From an early age Dr. Tranchitella has been interested in nutrition,
health, and education. After completing a multiple subject teaching
credential in 1991, following a degree in Liberal Arts, she decided
to pursue her goal in health education. Discovering the comprehensive
education and natural health emphasis of Naturopathic Medicine,
she began her Naturopathic postgraduate studies in 1995.
Dr. Tranchitella has dedicated her postgraduate studies to the
field of naturopathic medicine including nutrition, homeopathy,
women's health and general health education. She has devised an
8-week healthy weight loss program that helps one make healthier
food choices, lectures on topics related to natural medicine, and
is a contributing writer to various health oriented magazines.
Dr. Tranchitella is a member of the American Association of Naturopathic
Physicians (AANP) and the California Association of Naturopathic
Physicians (CANP). She works in San Diego and Temecula, California
with her husband, an osteopathic physician. Dr. Tranchitella practices
as a consultant in naturopathic medicine in the State of California,
she holds an advanced certificate in Functional Medicine from BioHealth
Diagnostics, and is a certified Holistic Health Practitioner in
the City of San Diego. She is licensed from the Vermont Board of
Naturopathic Medicine as a Naturopathic Physician.
Personal Statement:
"The freedom to practice holistic healthcare was a major reason
for my decision to become a Naturopathic Doctor. I became a Naturopathic
Physician because I felt that naturopathic medicine provided a more
comprehensive approach to health care and natural medicine than
any other alternative medical field. I felt that it was important
to attend a school that provided an education in the basic medical
sciences. With all of the information available to the public through
books and the Internet, an education in the medical sciences can
help one to distinguish between what is valid and sound advice and
what is not.
The path to becoming a Naturopathic Physician was a difficult one.
There were many hours of study, as is the case with any medical
education. However, I knew that this was the path for me, and I
never wavered in that belief. Nutrition, exercise, and a healthy
lifestyle have always been a part of my life and I have had a strong
desire to help others who are searching for ways to improve their
health. When I discovered Naturopathic Medicine, I knew that I had
found a profession that was perfect for me and my interest in helping
others to become well. I love what I do and know that Naturopathic
Medicine has much to offer those who are fortunate enough to discover
it."

I
began my study of acupuncture thirteen years ago in San Diego, and
I am going into my ninth year of practice in Chinese Medicine and
Acupuncture. My practice is inclusive of acupuncture therapy, electroacupuncture,
Chinese herbal therapy, therapeutic exercise and massage, as well
as lifestyle counseling, including nutrition.
The focus of my practice is in the treatment of pain, acupuncture
orthopedics, sports-related injuries, gynecological disorders, and
women's health in general.
My specialized acupuncture style primarily utilizes a distal point
strategy, which allows the affected part to remain needle free for
other forms of therapy such as manipulation, heat, or massage. It
is a dynamic and extremely effective method of treatment.
